Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, South Africa
23 August 2009 to 27 August 2009
26.08.2009
Our time in Port Elizabeth and surrounds was a good Introduction to South Africa, the culture, customs. From closing car windows at lights, to tipping people to watch your car. The driving over here is nothing but bizarre. We learnt to speak a little bit of Africaan to get us through. Our pronunciation was a little dodgy!

23 and 24 August 2009: We stayed at Willows Chalets. Awesome location, right on the beach. This is where on the first night Janeen dropped the new camera – DOH! Yep – one camera down! We have had a “Braai” (grill BBQ over wood) each night; we had forgotten how nice it was to BBQ with old fashioned wood fire!! Every house has a “Braai” and they also all have chimneys as wood is the main form of heating here. All wood is purchased from either the shops or from people on the side of the road.

This is our close encounter with the elephants at Addo National Park and other interesting little beasts.

After travelling through the garden route and staying in some varied accommodation we arrived in Cape Town to join our first tour. .. and buy a new camera!!
